Mary G. Briskey

On the late evening of Friday April 12th, 2024, Mary Gertrude Briskey, 87 of Luna Pier, Michigan departed this earthly life after a long battle with COPD, long COVID, and pneumonia. Her devoted daughter, Beverlie Currier, and her husband, Jamie, were at her side. Her family had spent the day with her. Mary is free from her failing body and is with her devoted husband Melvin in their heavenly home.

Mary is survived by her three children, Michael (Jane), Marvin (Andra), and Beverlie (Jamie Currier); seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Susan, Mikayla, Rebecca, Andrew, and Steven; great grandchildren Karin and Harper; and her sister Gail (William Dojak). Mary was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her parents’ John and Thelma (Conn) Adams, her brother Johnny, sister Jane, and daughter in law Kathy (Timmins) Briskey.

Mary was a graduate of Bedford High School. Mary worked as a telephone operator at Continental Telephone Company, a secretary at Dana Corporation, and a bus driver and teacher’s aide at Whiteford Agricultural Schools before starting the Luna Pier Harbour Club, where she ran the party store and gas dock. Mary enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. During her life Mary was a member of St Anthony’s parish and St Joseph’s Parish. In her more active years, Mary enjoyed spending wintertime at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, FL.

Friends may gather from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday April 18th, 2024, and a funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 AM on Friday April 19th, 2024, both will be held at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St, Sylvania, OH 43560.

Memorials for those who desire are suggested to the American Lung Association in Michigan or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
